School is prison. I hate school so much. The only aspect I like of it is learning and band. Band is basically my safe haven from that terrible place. Middle school has basically ruined my life. In that first year, I lost more than half of my friends and started to just sit in the library in the morning and at lunch. I believe school should be altered. It should be A LOT shorter. For me to take a shower, dry my hair, and get ready, I have to wake up at FREAKEN 5 IN THE MORNING!!!!!!! That is so ridiculous!!! Please comment what time you have to get up! Also, with the ton of homework teachers dump on our shoulders and no free period, and extra curricular activities, the school day needs to either be shortened or there needs to be a free period given to middle schoolers.
Also, adults are always addressing the issue of bullying (which is a serious issue) but a bigger problem is the separation of groups of students. At my school, (which I will refer to as 'Hell' in future posts) there are the popular girls, then the popular guys, the wannabes, the rather large group of people who are just in-between, there are the smart girls and smart guys and then the freaks (who really aren't freaks, I've talked to them). You see, when there is that separation, it naturally causes conflict. The top of the so called 'Food Chain' is different at every school. This just makes me so uneasy because this is so similar to the problems in the world.
The teachers and principles are given way to much power over student's futures. If you get any demmarits or detentions some colleges won't accept you. For example, if you feel a teacher is wrong about something or have the urge to speak your mind to your teacher, you can't. They will think you are 'talking back' to them so then you may be given a referral to go to the office. When the principle's office, they will ask you what happened. You will then explain to them, calmly, what happened. They will then bombard you with "That was so disrespectful!" and "You need to apologize!". See what I'm getting at? Teachers and principals can make whatever happened into something else entirely and that is way to much power.
